A Day of Firsts

Today Carter went to Aunt Kate's for the day for the girls and grandma to babysit. Kate does hair out of her house so when I picked him up we had a hair cut scheduled for him. He was a pretty big boy for it but by the end he was pretty much done. It looks so much better and I can't believe how BLONDE he is now.

Here is the before:

And the final product:
Thanks Aunt Kate!!

Tonight Borculo CRC, where the rest of my family attends, was having their annual Cadet & GEMS Pinewood Derby race at the school so since Brian was bowling I decided Carter and I might as well go. First the Cadets raced, then the GEMS, and then anyone else who wanted to donate $25 to enter could race. So of course my brother Mike had to. Mitch wasn't too far behind but Mike ended up winning over EVERYONE! It was pretty fun. He gets to keep this traveling trophy until next year. Oh and this was Carter's FIRST official car race. :)

Poem by Carter

When I got to work today I got an email from Carter (Brian) that he had wrote a poem for his mommy. I just had to post this (sorry Brian) b/c it was too sweet.

It said: What Tuesday means to Blu (that's what Brian calls him) :)

Together with mom
U are the best mom ever
Excited to see your smiling face when I wake up from my naps
So sad to see you leave
Dad is good but you are the best
Always loving me
You ROCK MOM!!

Mall walking and talking

Today Kath and I picked up some Subway and went to the mall to eat and do some walking. We figured out that is about all the mall is good for! The boys loved it and since they both weren't the healthiest this week we figured it was safest not to hang out at each other's houses.

Carter and Jackson, our little happy campers!

Birthday with the DeJonge's

Sorry I have been a blog slacker lately...frankly this winter is lasting way too long! I feel so out of touch with friends sometime! Thankfully we are going to have a play date with Jacob and Deacon today...much needed! And due to some changes at work I have picked up another day so that makes things busy too. Oh and Brian's sports, my aerobics...we hardly have time for ourselves! Anyway, enough excuses!

Sunday we had my family over for Brian's birthday. He didn't want a birthday cake but rather coconut cream pie so I slaved away and made one. :) I never made one before but I have to say it turned out pretty good!

After lunch mom and dad were full of souveniors from their vacation to Puerto Vallarta. My mom won a football at the super bowl party for Carter. The guys got t-shirts and the girls got jewelry. You can never be too old for souvenirs!

And lastly I finally video taped Brian giving Carter power throws. I rotated the video but now that its on here its sideways again. So you'll have to turn your head! Carter LOVES to be thrown in the air!

Weekend Getaway

This past weekend we headed up to the Blue Beaver Lodge (Eric and Kate's place) with Brian's family. When we arrived Friday night the girls had the cabin all decorated for Brian's birthday and they all had their party hats on. I scrounged up 3 candles and a few decorations for the cake...pathetic, I know! But mom's cake was awesome as always! The girls absolutely adore Carter. It is so cute. Karinda loved to read stories to him. She is such a good reader! I know I couldn't read like that in Kindergarten!Brian and mom playing some Guess Who? You can never be too old for games!Kate got the flu while we were up there so I took the girls outside on Saturday to play in the snow. The snow was so deep up there! We built a pretty cool fort complete with seats, windows, and a tunnel. Here is Kylie peaking through the window. Karinda climbing through the fort. The girls loved to play the Wii and we even talked Grandpa into bowling. He didn't do to bad!It was nice to get away and just relax. The guys did quite a bit of snowmobiling and they even convinced me to go out with them Saturday night. I had a blast!
